1. Understand the process

How it works:
I work on one portrait at a time, with a current waitlist of about 6 months. Once I begin your portrait, it typically takes 2-3 months to complete. I draw in colored charcoal, which allows for vibrant color and rich visual texture. The finished piece is scanned at high resolution and printed on archival paper by a professional fine art printer to create a gallery-grade print at the original size.

Gallery-grade prints capture the full detail of the original with the durability and ease of framing that make them ideal for display and gifting. If you prefer the original instead of a print, you can select that as an upgrade.

3. Submit a request and reference photos

After you submit the request form, I'll reach out via email to confirm the details of your portrait and let you know your spot in the waitlist. You can include reference photos with your request or send them later.

What makes a good reference photo?

• High resolution: Can the texture and direction of the fur be seen clearly?
• Even lighting: Is any part of the face obscured by shadows?
• Full subject in frame: Are all ears, paws, and tails within the edges of the image?

4. Follow along as your portrait takes shape

Once I begin work on your portrait, I'll provide real-time progress updates through email, text, or (if the drawing is not intended as a surprise gift) my Instagram story (@claire.kerper.portraits).

5. Pay & receive your artwork

Payment is due in full on the day of shipment (or in-person delivery). I accept Venmo, Zelle, cash, and check.
